The Witcher
A connected guide to Andrzej Sapkowski’s Witcher books, the CD PROJEKT RED games and major screen adaptations.
The Witcher begins with Andrzej Sapkowski's stories about Geralt of Rivia, a professional monster hunter moving through a world where folklore, politics and human choices are often more dangerous than the creatures he is paid to kill. The short-story collections establish Geralt, Yennefer, Ciri and the moral ambiguity of the Continent; the five-volume saga then turns those relationships into a larger war-driven story.
The games continue from the literary world rather than simply retelling the novels. CD PROJEKT RED's trilogy follows Geralt after the books, while Thronebreaker shifts attention to Queen Meve and the Northern Kingdoms. Screen adaptations reinterpret the same characters again, making The Witcher a particularly useful Master4Game world for comparing how one setting changes between page, play and screen.
